Why we started NewFriends
Remember when being social didn't require comparing 17 different calendars and then canceling anyway because someone has a runny nose? Yeah, we miss that too.
Becoming a parent changes everything — from the earliest days when you’re so sleep deprived you’re putting socks in the freezer all the way to the teen years when finding the right way to connect with your kids is harder than Indiana Jones’ quest for the Holy Grail.
Parenting, especially the hyper-intense way we do it now, disconnects you from yourself and from everyone around you. Our culture isn’t exactly helping out. Adult fun in the US most often involves drinking or eating in spaces where you had better not bring a person under 3 feet tall or fear the wrathful gaze of your fellow patrons because your toddler is still working on their inside voice.
Spaces designed for kids seem to have forgotten that parents also need to be there. The best you can hope for in most indoor playgrounds is a cold metal folding chair and a $3 squeeze packet of applesauce while you doomscroll until you hear screaming.
It doesn’t have to be that way.
We created NewFriends becuase we needed a way to have fun with other adults while our kids have fun with other kids. A space where everyone feels like they belong.
Our parties are thoughtful about guests of all ages, but we are focused on creating a judgement-free space where parents can relax and actually enjoy the magic moments our kids create.
Every NewFriends Party includes:
Actual adult conversations (complete sentences and everything!)
Kid-wrangling by people who aren't you
Actually good food you didn't have to make
A way to connect with yourself and other parents who get it
Zero pressure to Instagram any of it
